It's possible to zoom in and out of a map rather than moving between slides.  Easy to learn and use, Prezi will impress and inform.

Voicethread is the most famous digital storytelling tool.  You add pictures or your videos and let others comment on it.

Wordle generates 'word clouds' from text that you provide.  THe clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text.  You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes.
