Scholarship Book 2019-20


The Young Edmonton Grants (YEG) application is now open!

Requests can be made for up to $3,000.

The YEG program supports activities that are initiated, led, and organized by young Edmonton and area residents. Ideas and projects of all kinds are supported. The most important consideration is that the applicant is an Edmonton and area resident between the ages of 13 and 24 and is instrumental in the project’s planning and execution.

The applicant will need to partner with their school or a registered charity. The next application deadline is February 15, 2019. Future deadlines are May 15 and October 15.

FCM scholarships for young women: Launching September 25th and closing December 15th

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) is accepting nominations for a pair of scholarships that recognize young women interested in getting involved in local government.

The deadline to apply for the Andrée P. Boucher Memorial Scholarship and the Canadian Women in Municipal Government Scholarship is December 15, 2018. This year, a total of $14,000 in scholarships will be awarded to high school, college and university students across Canada.

FCM established these scholarships to support young women who demonstrate leadership and interest in local government, and to encourage others to get involved in their community.  The scholarships are part of FCM’s initiative to reach parity in municipal councils across Canada.

Andrée P. Boucher Memorial Scholarship

This $4,500 scholarship is presented to a female college or university student deemed to have submitted the best research paper on a topic related to women in politics.

Two André P. Boucher Scholarships will be awarded.

  • One to a student at the college/university undergraduate level; and
  • One at the university graduate level.


Canadian Women in Municipal Government Scholarship

These $1,000 scholarships are presented to outstanding high school students for their involvement in their school’s leadership team or student council.

Five regional scholarships will be presented across Canada this year, one each for British Columbia, the Prairies and Territories, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities is the national voice of municipal government, with 2,000 members representing 91 per cent of the Canadian population.


John Cameron Changing Lives Foundation Award
This $1500 Scholarship recognizes a student who has demonstrated a passion for making a difference, both to the school community and to the community at large by both actions and involvement in mental health initiatives.

Kinsmen Community Service Scholarship
This community scholarship of $1000 is presented annually to a student who has demonstrated outstanding performance in good citizenship and service. Applications on-line at www.edmontonkinsmen.ca/salute2youth Deadline is April 25th


Kiwanis Leadership Award

This scholarship of $1000 is presented annually to students in financial need who have demonstrated outstanding performance in academic, citizenship and service activities.  Students will be nominated by a school committee.


Mayfield Rotary Service Above Self Scholarship

The mission of the Mayfield Rotary Club is to strengthen the local and international community with a focus on youth development. The $500 "Service Above Self" Scholarship recognizes a student's commitment to community service through volunteering and helping others.

Sunrise Rotary Career Develpoment Scholarship

This $1000 scholarship is awarded to a student who has completed the Jasper Place High School Off-Campus Career Development program, participated in Work Experience or RAP, and is planing to attend a post-secondary program in a career focused area of interest. The scholarship will be split, $500 for RAP and $500 for Work experience. Visit the Career Centre for the application.


The City of Champions Lions Club Scholarship

This $1000 scholarship will be presented annually to a graduationg student who has shown exceptional service to their community through volunteer work. Visit the Career Centre for the application.

The Bruce Coggles Excellence Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship will award one student annuall who exemplifies excellence, exhibits a passion for student leadership within Jasper Place High School and wishes to pursue post-secondary education.   The student we be well-rounded who has served the school as a team player through participation in the arts or school athletics.  Visit the Career Centre for the application.

The Premier's Citizenship Award
In recognition of students graduating from high school who have supported and contributed to Alberta communities through public service and voluntary endeavours. Recipients are selected by a selection committee set up at each school. Selection is based on leadership, citizenship, community service activities or volunteer work. Academic achievement may be considered once candidates have met the eligibility criteria. Shirley Stiles
Student Leadership Award
This award is in recognition of exceptional leadership qualities as demonstrated through school activities and community service. Student will be nominated by school Administration.

Bruce Coggles Rebel Award

This award is presented in recognition of a graduating student who demonstrates self-motivation, leadership, creativity, dedication, and a commitment to excellence in all areas of Jasper Place High School. Student will be chosen by school Administration.

Alexander Rutherford Scholarship Apply for this scholarship on line at www.studentaid.alberta.ca Applications open June 1.

Students may earn a maximum of $2500 toward their post-secondary education if the eligibility criteria are met. Awards are as follows:
